Lyric Stage Project

Lyric Stage Project (LSP) is a collective of artists assembled to share their talent for, and commitment to, the power of theatre. We are actors, writers, directors, and producers with a common vision of expanding the boundaries of the stage and in doing so broadening its audience. We believe that theatre is unique in its immediacy and ability to connect directly to the hearts, minds and souls of its witnesses. We declare that it is not merely a diversion but a necessary appendage to community. It follows, therefore, that there is enormous responsibility inherent to the craft of theatre and to the community that it mirrors. We recognize this and are in service to it.

Each of our annual seasons will be comprised primarily of original works developed from within the company and some established works that challenge us. We will produce nothing that does not demand artistic risk and require some education we have yet to acquire.

All compositions have been and will be produced in accord with our mandate: to present provocative and affecting stories through truthful performances by actors working at the highest level of their art form.

Past LSP productions include our first original work, The 21st Floor, the official inaugural double bill presentation of Strindberg's Miss Julie and Amiri Baraka's Dutchman. Past LSP co-productions include Judith Thompson's Lion in the Streets, Adam Rapp's Blackbird and Neil LaBute's Mercy Seat. In December 2007, we also established RIFFS, a series of short original works written and performed by members of the LSP ensemble that we will continue to develop and present.
